Tom White was born in a small town in Central Texas. He grew up around oil fields there and began working in trucking and heavy construction. From an early age, he was intensely interested in hunting and fishing and has always had a connection to the outdoors.
Because Tom always had the ability to draw and create things with his hands, he decided to pursue a career in advertising. In 1972, he graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Arts, Art/Advertising Design Degree. He went to work as an Advertising Art Director for the Bloom Agency in Dallas, working on accounts such as Southwest Airlines and Mitsubishi Aircraft. In 1978, Tom joined another firm and became a Principal Partner in the agency Saunders, Lubinski & White, Inc. As VP/Creative Business Director, Tom played a major role in the agency’s growth to approximately ten times its size in employees and gross annual billings. Some of the agency’s accounts were Tuesday Morning Inc., Budget Rent-A-Car and Xerox Corporation.
Tom has been married to his wife for over 35 years. When their one daughter was grown, graduated from college and married, Tom decided to retire from advertising and pursue his art. He has combined his passion for stained glass with his interest in the history and culture of the Plains Indian and the American West. He brings the same degree of intensity, commitment and work ethic to his personal work that served him so well in his professional career. Tom continues his love for the outdoors as an avid fly fisherman. He believes that life is not always about bigger and better. It’s about more awareness and being in touch with the people and places around you and it’s about being part of the solution and not part of the problem.
